(Disciples of Christ)

Music Ministry @ FCC

Encounter Praise | Tuesdays 5:30PM-6:30PM (September - May)

Through worship we encounter the spirit, we encounter Christ, God, ourselves and each other.
Our dedicated music leaders for our 9AM Wellsprings Service are called, "Encounter".
Focusing on music from the Chalice Hymnal, Chalice Praise, contemporary Christian, gospel,
Taize, Caribbean and others, this support of musicians brings diverse backgrounds of music together.
They share together in special music, lead congregational singing and occasionally provide solos.
Encounter rehearses on Tuesday afternoon from 5:30-6:30PM in the choir room.

Chalice Ringers | Tuesdays 6:30PM-7:45PM  (September - May)

The Chalice Ringers is our adult handbell ensemble composed of 10 dedicated adults.
Ringing 3 octaves of Malmark handbells and handchimes,
they work together focusing on sacred arrangements which are offered in both of our 9AM & 11AM services.
This ensemble is open to anyone willing to have a great time and share their time and talent for the glory of God.
Basic music skills are not required, but very helpful.
If there is not a position available, we will happily put you on our substitute list!
The Chalice Ringers rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45PM in the Education Building.
The handbell room is located on the first floor.

Chancel Choir  | Wednesdays 7PM-8:30PM  (September - May)

The First Christian Chancel Choir has a tradition of musical strength
and creativity dating back to the very beginnings of this congregation.
However, while preserving the timeless beginnings of hymnody
they present and share new and modern arrangements of all genres.
The Chancel Choir shares a broad variety of music from choral masterworks
to spirituals and ecumenical folk arrangements.
The FCC Chancel Choir has a responsibility in ministry to support our congregational singing and offer introits, anthems and benedictions as a gift to God.
This choir includes men and women of diverse musical backgrounds and ages!
Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30PM in the Education Building.
The choir room is located on the second floor.

Kids Praise | Wednesdays 6PM-6:40PM (September - May)

First Christian Kids Praise meets on a bi-weekly basis (twice a month).
Led by Mrs. Casey, this energetic and faith filled time will
feature all things music & movement!
From boomwhackers, to learning how to read music, to singing the words of our faith, to dancing and making instruments, all children are welcome here!
Adults use this time to bond and catch up with one another.
If you have children and are looking for a church family, this is a great place to start!

The Mobile Music Ministry (Year round)

The First Christian Church Mobile Music Ministry began in February 2015.
The inspiration came from our "all church Christmas caroling" caravan that takes place each December.
We found ourselves being inspired by these visits of fellowship and singing with many of our homebound members.
On the first and third Mondays of the month, members of this ministry travel out into the community.
While these visits are often focused on our homebound members, they are not confined to them.
Some visits include those who have experienced illness, times of grief or those who just need a song in their ear.
There, we sing their favorite hymns with them, sharing in laughter, tears and the laying on of hands.
This ministry is open to anyone who needs a lift during their weeks and enjoys the hymns of our faith!
Each visit last 45 minutes - 1 hour!

The FCC space for grace concert series | September - June

This could be just another music series in another town with another busy calendar.
However, this series is meant to bring a special light of thanks and gratitude.
Gratitude for those who feel appreciate music and are compelled to listen.
Gratitude for those who are gifted to share.
Especially, gratitude for a creative God who has equipped us all with various talents.
Performers share grace in their way of offering music.
Listeners share grace by simply being present and entering the walls of an unfamiliar place
and supporting these creative talents.
All may be recipients of grace because all who walk through the doors of 207 Tarboro will be welcome.
No charge.
No expectations.
Come as you are.
We pray that the music experienced through this Sacred Music Series will uplift,
give glory to God and allow a change and a Space for Grace in each heart that is filled.

Instrumentalists and instruments at First Christian

As part of our firm belief in the music ministry that all have gifts to share,
whether how vast or contrast, we strive to share the plethora of talent for God's glory and God's glory alone.
From piano & organ duets to the sounds of the tenor saxophone, guitar, North German organ music,
djembe or guest instrumentalists, our sounds represent only a small glimpse of the vastness of God's palette of sound. We welcome all members to share their gifts.
Our Minister of Music will find a place for you!
